Tiger Woods – Knee Surgery Successful
ByAccording to a report by Associated Press yesterday, Tiger Woods’ reconstructive knee surgery was performed yesterday in Utah. The report said that doctors stated it as “highly unlikely” there would be any long term effects.
This was the second surgery on Tiger’s left knee in 10 weeks. Dr. Thomas D. Rosenberg said in a statement that “We were confident going into this surgery and I am pleased with the results. He also stated that “There were no surprises during the procedure and as we have said, with the proper rehabilitation and training, it is highly unlikely that Mr. Woods will have any long-term effects as it relates to his career.” This was Tiger’s fourth surgery on his left knee. The first was in 1994 to remove a benign tumor. In 2002 he had benign cycsts removed, along with fluid around the ACL. Tiger tore his ACL last year after the British Open while jogging. Tiger said, “It was important to me to have the surgery as soon as possible so that I could begin the rehabilitation process.” He also said, “I am very appreciative of Dr. Rosenberg and Dr. Cooley and his staff’s guidance and look forward to working with them through the necessary rehabilitation and training.” Tiger didn’t say when his rehab would begin nor when he expected to return to the PGA Tour but he did say that he looks forward to working hard at his rehabilitation over the coming months and returning to the PGA Tour healthy, next year.
